respective cases. Martin has worked in the mining industry as a safety
professional for over 48 years.
Tim Martin has worked
with almost every type of mining that is utilized in the US and South
America. Within his career in coal mining, he has worked as the director of
safety for mining operations with up to 60 surface, underground and prep
facility operations across the United States. Martin Consulting has provided
safety oversight for mining operations that include, Coal Mining with
surface and underground operations, Highwall operations, Gold Mining in both
surface and underground operations, Underground Silver Operations, Ore
Operations, Cement Operations, Aggregate, Sand and Stone Operations, large
and small Preparation Plants, and River Loading Facilities.
Mr. Martin has worked
within the mine rescue community as a qualified mine rescue instructor as
well as building and managing mine rescue teams. Mr. Martin was directly
involved in the rescue and recovery of the Sago Mine Disaster, the UBB Mine
Disaster and the water inundation flooding at the AEP Meigs No1 and No 31
Mines.
Mr. Martin served as
the lead mine safety expert in the Massey CEO Criminal Case litigated by the
United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Over one million documents were produced in discovery related to mine safety
and regulatory compliance involving the Upper Big Branch mine. Mr. Martin
has served as an expert in two separate mine safety criminal cases as well
as numerous civil cases involving serious injury cases and cases resulting
in fatalities. Mr. Martin has served as an expert in respirable dust cases
involving Coal Mine Dust as well as Quartz and Silica cases. In addition to
supporting litigation cases within the mining industry, Mr. Martin has also
served as an expert witness and consultant in several OSHA Construction and
General industry cases. Mr. Martin also assisted the general industry in
Hazardous Materials Entry and Rescue education as well as Confined Space
Entry and Rescue certification. Mr. Martin is a professional member of the
American Society of Safety Professionals.
With more than 48
years’ experience as a health and safety professional, Tim A. Martin
obtained numerous safety and health certifications. He has presented
professional papers on the subjects of ergonomics, accident prevention,
behavior-based safety, workplace violence, environmental controls and
emergency preparedness in various locations across the nation. He has
received recognition for his contributions in health and safety from the
director of NIOSH, and both Assistant Secretaries of Labor for OSHA and
MSHA. Mr. Martin has designed world-class health and safety educational
programs that have been ranked as some of the nation’s best programs by the
U.S. Department of Labor.
